Share Your Story Contest – Round 2 Winners
Winner, winner, chicken dinner! Ya, we know that one’s a bit old, but we’re just so excited to finally announce the winners for Round 2 of the Share Your Story Contest.
With over 24 stories eligible to win this time around, three stories stood out among the rest. Based on a combination of public votes and judge’s picks, the top three stories this round were:
- 1st: Rest in peace my friend - Armin
- 2nd: Know when to hold ‘em – Alyssa
- 3rd: Never thought I would say, “no thanks, I’m a non-smoker” – Shannon
Each of the winners shared a story that presented an honest and personal account of their struggles and success with quitting smoking. It’s this kind of truly open disclosure that we were looking for because we realize that it’s not us that should inspire you to quit, it’s each other.
Congrats to all the winners in 2010/11 and thanks for submitting such inspiring stories!

I just want to say I never told my story thinking I would win a prize, it was about my battle with smoking and how the death of my mother due to smoking wasn't enough to get me to quit and maybe trigger something in someone else..I had to WANT to and I really did and it made it easier than ever before and boy had I tried! So thanks and I say you will get sick of it surrender and become a quitter if you really want it.

Thank everyone. This contest gave me the light at the end of the tunnel to quit, but my family and my own personal health were the strongest cheerleaders on my road to recovery. (yeah I think smoking is kind of a sickness. It causes a lot of them anyways.) Luckily I had a great support system but theres always a few roadbumps towards success and my still-smoking boyfriend is that bump. That was probably the hardest thing to stop... those midnight smokes with my sweetie, but now I hope its just a matter of time before Im a good influence on his habit. Now that I know the good side and can run circles around him I hope he sees reason to quit like I did. Thanks for a great contest to help bring us together and inspire each other!
